On one of our first dates, I blurted out, “I want to open a coffee shop,” with zero plan and plenty of confidence, naturally followed by Adam asking if I even drank coffee. Fast forward, and that spontaneous idea turned into Black Pearl: our creative outlet, family business, and passion. What began as a small boutique on Chestnut Street in Muscatine has grown into our home on East 2nd Street, rooted in great caffeine, good vibes, and doing things our own way.

Right next door, our bagel shop neighbors complete the experience. Grab a coffee and a bagel when the day is moving fast, or take your time with drinks and sandwiches on a slow, laid back lunch date. It’s an effortless pairing good flavors, easy moments, and the kind of convenience that still feels intentional.
Our space is designed for students, creatives, and remote workers who want a place that feels both productive and relaxed. With fresh coffee always brewing, cozy seating, and a calm, welcoming atmosphere, Black Pearl is the kind of spot where studying feels a little easier and workdays feel less rushed. Stay for an hour or settle in for the afternoon, good coffee, good energy, and a space that lets you move at your own pace.
We proudly serve warm, fresh pizza from another local favorite, Sal Vitale’s, available slice by slice throughout the day. It’s the perfect grab and go option or an easy addition to your coffee break comforting, familiar, and always satisfying. Paired with one of our drinks, it turns a simple stop into a full, feel good moment.
